General Needs:

Easy to grow perennial. Very drought and heat tolerant.  Heavy fertilization will encourage leafy growth but fewer blooms.

Pruning:

Salvias may be pruned year round to encourage denser growth and more flowers. At a minimum, shear the plant back severely (to 6”-8” unless plant is old and woody (12”)) in mid February and cut the plant back by 1/2  in mid June.

Other Maintenance:

Provide well drained soil for best performance. May be easily transplanted if cut back by 1/2 and kept well watered until adjusted to the new location. Transplant in the winter months.
