This is an unusual looking rose with mauvish pink flowers that look papery and silky. Five large petals form a setting for golden stamens making the flower resemble a clematis. It is one of the earliest garden roses to come into bloom. Will tolerate some shade. As a shrub, it makes a stiff, branching grower of medium to large size with dark, shiny foliage and brownish stems.
