Extremely fragrant cabbage-type flowers of deep rose-pink appear in clusters. It can be used as a shrub rose (5 - 7 ft.) or a small climber. Abundant spring blooms, with light summer blooms followed by a fall flush. Long canes are covered with small thorns and deep green leaves. It does well in poor soil and in cool shade where summers are warm, but is subject to mildew. Madame Pereire was a member of a banking family during the reign of Napoleon III.
