Medium, semi-double, deep pink blooms appear in clusters spring to fall. Slight fragrance is reminiscent of sweet peas. Upright growth habit (4 - 5 ft. x 3 - 4 ft.) and excellent healthy foliage makes a good hedge. Almost thornless. Its heat tolerance, ease of growing and disease resistance makes this one of the most famous and valuable old roses. Said to be Thomas Moore's "last rose of summer". This is the most common of the China roses brought to Europe from China, initiating the great revolution in rose breeding by introducing the repeat flowering factor into once flowering old European roses. The climbing version grows 15 foot or more.
