Wonderfully scented crimson-red fully double flowers fade to cerise. Nice upright shape is suitable for a border or low hedge. Needs a little extra care in cooler regions to keep foliage disease free and healthy. If not deadheaded late in the season, 'Wenlock' will produce a large crop of round red hips in the fall. This variety is named for a limestone ridge in Shropshire, Wenlock Edge, which is mentioned in "The Welsh Marches", a poem by A.E. Housman. |
