Trick or Treat in the Gardens

Our annual Trick or Treating in the Gardens event has always been a rare opportunity for our customers to tour our historic ship, where we have a mermaid and pirate waiting for photo opportunities. The past few years, the event has evolved into so much more than just that. We have added a scavenger hunt throughout the gardens, leading kids of all ages to different stations in the gardens. At the stations, we have unique games like a pumpkin toss, hula hoop game, etc. where we give winners candy and prizes.

In 2019, we took it a step further and had a full out treasure hunt in the gardens. Each station had a pirate themed activity like “walk the plank” and “captain hook’s ring toss”. Kids won eye patches, mermaid necklaces and candy of course! When they got to the ship, we had pales filled with sand and over 100 keys. Kids got to dig for the treasure chest’s key. They picked which one they thought was the winning key, then took it to our garden center to see if it fit the treasure chest’s slot. It was a hit! Our event coordinator has no idea how she is going to top this for next year.

All of our staff enjoys planning and being apart of these special memories made in the gardens. We are so grateful for such a great turn out and to provide a safe, family friendly event for the community. We look forward to continuing the Trick or Treating in the Gardens event tradition. It is held the Sunday before Halloween every year. Sign up for our newsletter to be reminded of this fun event!
